*When I painted this piece, me, my boyfriend and his children were in the process of merging our lives together. We were planning on moving to the same city and living together within the next six months, and I was curious to see where we were in regards to our progress of merging into one unit. This painting tells the story perfectly. The two green snake-like forms represent him and I. The children are squished to the right. At this time, we were putting all of our energy into merging together first before getting the kids totally involved. Although the kids are to the side, they sit waiting and ready to contribute to the merge. The red squiggles and the bright pink running through their veins shows their anticipation for the event. I am really glad we waited nearly a year after this painting to make the move, because then everybody was involved in the merge.
